If you already have the model number, start there
The safest replacement process is: identify the exact existing MPN, open the current manufacturer documentation, compare electrical characteristics, compare control/dimming requirements, compare enclosure and location requirements, determine whether an exact replacement still exists, and only then evaluate alternatives from complete specifications.
Exact match versus possible matches
An exact catalog MPN or a documented web alias is labeled as an exact match. Partial strings, family names, and conflicting GTINs are possible matches, not the same model. If nothing matches, the tool reports that no exact match was found in the current EMCOD catalog. It does not invent a substitute.
Canonical MPN and known web alias
Manufacturer source documents differ. The current catalog keeps EMT300SS-22E as the canonical MPN. A known website alias is EMT-300SS-22E. Searching either string should find the same catalog record. Not every EMCOD model follows one universal naming grammar. Patterns vary by family. First match the output type
Constant voltage cannot automatically replace constant current, and vice versa. A 24 V DC constant-voltage load needs an appropriate constant-voltage source. A current-regulated load marked in milliamps needs an appropriate constant-current driver. This page does not assign a generic 700 mA load to a specific EMCOD MPN. Then match output voltage or current
For constant-voltage products, output voltage must match the load, commonly 12 V DC or 24 V DC. For constant-current products, required current and permitted voltage range must be matched from the specification sheet. Same wattage is not enough. Continue in 12V vs 24V LED Drivers.
Replacement capacity must support the connected load
Add the published load, then compare it with the candidate’s wattage class. This page does not create a universal headroom requirement. Continue in How to Size an LED Driver.
Check input voltage
A correct output does not make a driver suitable if the supply is wrong. MLE60-24DC-P is cataloged with 120 V input on the MLE-P path, while many UD electronic families catalog a 100–277 V range. Confirm the exact MPN. Source: EMCOD manufacturer specifications
Match dimming and control architecture
If the existing system uses phase-cut, 0/1–10 V, PWM, resistance, or CCT control, the replacement must support that architecture. UD suffixes are not interchangeable across families without the sheet. Continue in LED Driver Dimming Explained.
Location and enclosure
Check indoor/outdoor use, dry/damp/wet if documented, enclosure type, mounting, and NEMA rating where the manufacturer publishes one. Do not generalize ratings across a family without source support. MLE-P catalog listing is not MLE-UD listing. Source: EMCOD catalog record
Electrical match is not the only match
A replacement may electrically fit and still miss the cavity. Compare length, width, height, mounting format, junction-box fit, DIN rail, wall-gang/integrated architecture, and transformer enclosure. EDR is a DIN-rail family; EDD is an integrated dimmer-plus-driver; ESL/EMT/SMT are landscape enclosures. Source: EMCOD manufacturer specifications
Replacement requirements

Exact replacement versus possible alternative
Exact replacement means the same manufacturer MPN is still available and the current documentation matches the existing application. Even then, verify current product documentation because manufacturers may revise products. A possible alternative is a different MPN that may be electrically or functionally compatible based on available specifications. That is not a direct replacement unless manufacturer documentation explicitly supports that claim. This guide does not label a different model “direct replacement.”

Example 2: ECC-010-UD
ECC-010-UD is the ECC-UD constant-current family, 10 W class. Finding another driver with similar wattage is not sufficient: current regulation, output range, input, dimming, and wattage all have to be read from the sheet. Example 3: EMT300SS-E
EMT300SS-E is a 300 W EMT landscape transformer. Another 300 W transformer is not automatically equivalent. EMT300SS-22E is a different tap set (12–22 VAC on spec 40). What if I cannot find my EMCOD model number?
Possible reasons: older model, punctuation changed, family revised, catalog-only model, model not currently damaged label, or omitted suffix. Collect a full label photo plus MPN, input, output, wattage, current, dimming information, dimensions, and installation context. This page does not add a customer-upload workflow.
Why the model number is the primary identifier
Printed catalogs, current websites, and historical labels can differ. Some products also have UPC/GTIN identifiers. If several catalog records share an identifier, the lookup shows all of them and warns: multiple EMCOD records share this identifier. Verify the MPN. Common replacement mistakes
- Choosing by wattage only.
- Choosing by physical appearance only.
- Replacing 12 V with 24 V because the wattage class looks similar.
- Replacing a constant-current driver with a constant-voltage driver, or the reverse.
- Ignoring the dimming or control protocol.
- Ignoring input voltage.
- Assuming every “-UD” product is identical.
- Ignoring suffixes such as P, UD, C2, 22E, CCT, AC, or DC.
- Ignoring physical dimensions and mounting format.
- Using a similar UPC/GTIN instead of the MPN.
- Treating a web alias as a different product without checking the canonical catalog MPN.
- Assuming a discontinued or older model equals the current model without reading current documents.

Common questions
How do I find my EMCOD model number?
Read the label on the enclosure. Photograph the full nameplate, including suffixes. Then search the current catalog with that MPN. If characters are worn, collect input, output, wattage, current, dimming information, dimensions, and installation context from the remaining marking and the existing documents.
What does an EMCOD model number mean?
Patterns vary by family. Some electronic constant-voltage MPNs encode family, wattage class, 12DC or 24DC, and a suffix such as P or UD. ECC-UD, ESL, SMT, and accessories do not use that same grammar. Do not force every EMCOD SKU into one decoder.
Can I replace an EMCOD driver with the same wattage?
Same wattage does not mean compatible. Output type, voltage or current, input, dimming, listing, and physical fit still have to match. A 60 W 12 V DC driver is not a substitute for a 60 W 24 V DC driver or a 10 W constant-current ECC-UD unit.
Can I replace a 12V EMCOD driver with a 24V driver?
Not unless the LED product is 24 V. Output voltage must match the load. Continue in the 12V vs 24V guide for current and drop implications after voltage already matches.
Can I replace a constant-current driver with a constant-voltage driver?
No, not as a drop-in. A current-regulated load needs a constant-current source. A 12/24 V DC tape load needs a constant-voltage source. Wattage does not override that.
What does UD mean on an EMCOD driver?
On MLE-UD, ECV-UD, ES-UD, and ECC-UD families, UD is a series suffix. Catalog and sourced sheets describe universal / 5-in-1 language on several UD families, but methods still have to be confirmed on the exact MPN sheet. UD is not a guarantee that every UD product is interchangeable.
How do I know if my replacement supports the same dimmer?
Read the specification sheet for the candidate MPN and match the control architecture actually installed: phase-cut, 0/1–10 V, PWM, resistance, CCT, or none. A family label is not a dimmer list.
Can I replace an older EMCOD model with a newer one?
Only after comparing complete specifications. A newer MPN in the same family can differ in input, dimming, listing, or dimensions. Treat it as a possible alternative until current manufacturer documents support the application.
Why does the EMCOD website model number sometimes look slightly different?
Manufacturer source documents can differ. Some catalog records have a catalog MPN and a known website alias, such as EMT300SS-22E and EMT-300SS-22E. The lookup shows both. The catalog / canonical MPN is not silently rewritten.
Can I search EMCOD products by UPC?
If you have a 12-digit GTIN, you can enter it here. Some catalog records share an identifier. When that happens, the lookup returns every matching MPN and warns you to verify the model number. Never treat UPC as a unique replacement key.
What if my old EMCOD model is discontinued?
A missing catalog match is not the same as “no replacement exists.” Collect the full label data, open manufacturer documentation if you still have it, and compare complete specifications. Do not assume a similar wattage class is the successor.
What information should I photograph before replacing a driver?
The full nameplate, MPN, input, output, wattage, current if printed, dimming marks, certifications, and the installed environment. Include enclosure size if the replacement must fit the same cavity. This page does not provide an upload workflow.
Can I replace an EMCOD transformer with another 300W transformer?
Not automatically. EMT300SS-E, EMT300SS-22E, and SMT300W are all 300 W-class products with different tap sets, controls, and circuit architecture. Another 300 W transformer is a possible alternative only after those documents match the job.
